Equal

Equinox = equal nights. Why use nights as the measure? Why not equal days?

Equal is the tipping point. Before we move to the next moment, to the next thing happening. Equal is the moment between the striking of a bell and the sound ringing out.

Equal can mean halfway. Between a beginning and an end. Or a start and a destination. We are always halfway between one thing and another.

So why does it matter, these halfway points always spilling over into the next moment? It seems we want these markers. It helps with the naming of things, names also being markers of a beginning and an end. Within a name is one thing and outside that name is another thing altogether.
